What is Melasma?

Melasma is a common pigmentation disorder characterized by skin discoloration. While it can affect anyone, it’s more prevalent in women, particularly pregnant women and those using contraceptive pills or hormone replacement therapy.

These irregular, dark patches typically appear on sun-exposed areas like the forehead, cheeks, nose, and lips. The condition is believed to result from overactive melanocytes, stimulated by female sex hormones and sunlight exposure, leading to excessive melanin production.

What is Dual Yellow Laser?

Dual Yellow Laser, an FDA-approved treatment utilizing copper bromide-based laser technology, effectively addresses vascular and pigmented lesions. This advanced system offers multi-wavelength capabilities to target various skin issues, including Melasma, vascular lesions, seborrheic keratosis, and acne. With its ability to penetrate deep into the skin without causing collateral damage, Dual Yellow Laser sets the gold standard for treating a wide range of skin abnormalities.

Why Dual Yellow Laser is Ideal for Melasma Treatment

The Dual Yellow Laser emits unique wavelengths of 511nm and 578nm, perfectly suited for vascular and pigmented conditions. These wavelengths penetrate deep into the dermis, targeting pigments without harming surrounding skin.

The laser’s green and yellow lights effectively curb melanin production, treating Melasma while reducing its recurrence. This innovative approach not only addresses existing pigmentation but also accelerates long-term results by minimizing melanin production.

Dual Yellow Laser for Skin Redness and Rosacea

Due to ageing, the appearance of fine blood vessels on the skin surface will start to occur, making the skin prone to flushes. Apart from genetics and race being a significant factor in why some of us experience red and sensitive skin as opposed to others, Rosacea is a common skin condition. Rosacea, a chronic and relapsing skin condition is characterised by facial flushing and pimple-like lesions and can be disruptive to one’s daily lives.

The yellow light-emitting at 578nm from the laser is designed to target the oxyhaemoglobin present in our blood. As a result, it shrinks the capillaries to reduce the appearance of red patches on the face effectively. Skin conditions associated with excessive vasculature, such as Rosacea, sensitive skin, telangiectasia, cherry angiomas, poikiloderma of civatte, are all effectively treated with the Dual Yellow Laser.

Additional Uses of Dual Yellow Laser

Skin Whitening

The yellow light boosts collagen production and reduces pigmentation, effectively treating scars, stretch marks, and achieving brighter skin.

Skin Growth Removal

Skin tags, moles, and raised pigment can be painlessly treated with green and yellow lights, without causing bleeding or damage to surrounding skin.

Acne Treatment

Yellow light destroys acne-causing bacteria and reduces sebum production, helping alleviate acne symptoms.

Is the treatment painful?

Unlike most laser treatments which create micro-wounds on the surface of the skin, the Dual Yellow Laser does not penetrate the surface of the skin, making the procedure gentle and comfortable. One can even do it without the usage of numbing cream!

Does Dual Yellow Laser treatment have any downtime?

As the procedure is a non-invasive one, there is minimal downtime and one will also notice skin brightening immediately! However, for those of you with extremely sensitive skin, you may experience mild redness for a few hours. One should be able to resume daily activities immediately post-treatment.
